Hi! I’m Amy

I am a film photographer, educator, and lab owner based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I photograph emotions like it’s my job (because it is) and love empowering other photographers to push to the next level in their art.

I majored in math more years ago than I care to admit, and taught it for five years to high schoolers before having my first (of three) sons.

I’ve always longed to be an artist, and took both photography courses my high school offered. I fell in love with cameras, film, and the darkroom. It’s a hobby I kept near my heart from then on.

Photography marries my passions of problem-solving and emotion-expressing. Teaching others these technical and artistic pieces of photography takes it one step further by adding in my love of educating.

It’s taken a long time, but I now see I can be a math nerd and an artist. It might seem like “duh. of course you can”, but if you’ve ever embraced a new identity (and you have), I’m sure you know it’s a strange, often painful process that takes intentional unmooring.

It would be an honor to hold your hand as we let the slip loose and push out to sea.
