This month we take on the Great Richard Avedon, the man who redefined fashion photography and portraiture. He added movement and dynamism to pictures we previously expected to be static. He captured unexpected emotions from celebrities and politicians we’re only used to seeing with their metaphorical masks on.
He pulled out vulnerability, playfulness, and the inner lives of his subjects. But ultimately he was telling his own story through the images of others all along.
