Artistic Advising

Initial assignment & Questionnaire

I am so excited for our time together! As a former high school math teacher, I am all about assigning homework and here is your first assignment. (yay!) The goal of this assignment is for me to get to know you, your current style, what inspires you, and the things you currently desire to learn.

Do you have to answer these questions? No. But doing so will help me help you. If answering these questions and doing the assignment is your worst nightmare, we can work on the fly at our meeting. Just know we just might not cover as much ground during your session, but you’re free to add on sessions to ensure you learn everything you want to learn!

Initial Assignment

Help me get to know you, the art you’re proud of, and the art that inspires you.

1 Look through your work. Find 10-12 images that you’re proud of; like, really proud of. These images can be from client work, personal work, or any combo. These could be images I think of as “breakthrough” images. Those times that you feel you’ve leveled up, and that image is proof you’re pushing past your old comfort zone or nailed that new technique. Or you might include images where you just know you captured how life feels, and not just how it looks. Or you could even include images you’re proud of, but have no idea why.

2. Now look through others’ work. Find 10-12 images that speak to you (and I use the term “image” loosely, because it doesn’t just have to be photography.) These are images that hit you in a soft spot, inspire you to create, or images that get you saying “I want to make that!”. All this being said, don’t overthink it (lol). Just pick your images and we can figure out why you chose them together. Send your images to me via your method of choice (dropbox, google, shootproof, etc.)

Questionnaire

Don’t forget to complete the initial assignment and submit via the delivery method of your choice.
